If you were lax in your hair care during the heater months, you may have survive with minor damage, but if you do not take some grave protection during the colder months, come Spring, you will absolutely feel sorry it. It’s also a great idea to incorporate a routine that causes very little stress on your hair such as letting the hair air dry instead of blow drying it; touch combing the hair instead of using an actual comb; or if you do use a comb, use a wide tooth comb. One way to prevent pipes from freezing is to leave a faucet that is far away from the main water source dripping. This helps keep water moving in a pipe and controls freezing. Insulating the pipes with rubber foam or fiberglass also helps prevent freezing. One more way to prevent freezing is to put heat coils around the pipes or to keep your heat at a certain level above freezing even at night.
If your pipes do happen to freeze but have not burst, you can try using a space heater to help thaw them. It is also a good idea to open a faucet to allow steam and ice to escape. You can also try a hair dryer to help thaw pipes but be sure to use plenty of caution. If you use extreme caution, a heat gun can also be used to help thaw frozen pipes.
If your pipes do freeze and burst, and you are not that experienced in pipe repair, it may be a good idea to consult a plumbing professional. They may cost you some money now but they will save you more money in the long run. Most professional plumbers will also work with you to give you a price that is reasonable for everyone. They take pride in their work and want to do the best job possible. These tips and a plumbing professional can help save your pipes and help ensure peace of mind and safety all winter for you and your family.
Always Wear A Hat
Your mother probably told you not to go outside without a hat or cap in the winter and you should listen to her. Not only will it help you stay healthy it will also help protect your hair. Delicate hair strands can easily be damaged when they are buffeted by below zero or near zero winds, snow, winter sunlight, and the blast of heat that comes whenever you enter a building. Wearing a solid cap or hat will help protect your hair and keep it from breaking or getting dull. Pick a natural fiber hat and don’t wear one that is too tight if you want to keep your hair looking great.
Deep Condition
Once a week use a deep conditioning treatment at home to help repair any damage done to your hair. Don’t use hot oil treatments because they can strip your hair and damage it more but do use a cream based deep conditioner and let it sit in your hair for a good twenty minutes before you rinse it out once a week during the winter. A leave in conditioner is also a good product to have on hand so that if your hair becomes too dry in between washings you can condition it.
